Jesus Awesomepitcher had his second AAA start last night and blew away the O’s AAA team in 6 no-hit innings. Strasburg has now allowed one hit over 12 innings in AAA and made it painfully obvious to everyone that the decision to keep both him and Drew Storen down in AAA is all about money, which would be fine if the team was in last place but doesn’t sound so great when the club is just 1.5 games back of the Phillies for the division lead. Still, if the Nats are able to hang around till the ETA of Stras and Storen(June 1st) they will essentially be adding at worst a #4 starter and bullpen depth. Factor that in with the possibility of a deal for a solid RF (not sold on any of those guys yet) AND whatever we get out of Wang, Jordan Zimmermann, and the corpse of Jason Marquis…..it looks like the Nats have a chance to get deeper and stronger as the season goes on.
