Nats sign J.C. Romero to minor league deal

The 35 year old lefty has been added to Nationals AAA affiliate the Syracuse Chiefs roster and could potentially end up on the Nationals roster real soon.

Romero has pitched in the majors as recent as this season having pitched in 24 games for the Philadelphia Phillies before he was designated for assignment this month. While pitching for the Phillies this season he posted 3.86 era and exhibited some control issues walking 12 over 16.1 innings pitched.

Romero has pitched games in 13 major league seasons and has 652 games of major league experience to his resume.

With left handed relief pitcher Doug Slaten currently on the DL for the Nationals this signing could potentially give the Nationals another proven lefty in the bullpen at some point.
