The Potomac Nationals wrapped up the regular season yesterday on a 8-4 come from behind victory over the Kinston Indians. With the win the P-Nats improved their record to 39-31 over the second half of the season tying them with the Frederick Keys for the second half division title.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 8th Potomac managed to put 6 unearned runs on the board thanks in part to a fielding error by Kinston relief pitcher Jose Flores. After a double from Cutter Dykstra to lead off the inning, Flores walked Francisco Soriano to give the Nationals runners on first and second. Jeff Kobernus then offered up what should have been a sacrifice bunt back to the mound but the ball was bobbled by pitcher Jose Flores allowing Kobernus to reach first safely. Then with the bases loaded and no outs Destin Hood lined out to third baseman Adam Abraham who then turned an unassisted double play by tagging Dykstra out at third. Had it not been for the error by Flores the inning would have been over on the double play.

However though the Nationals managed to rally with two outs putting together 5 straight hits, three of which were doubles, on their way to scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th giving the Nats a 8-4 lead and an eventual win.

The Potomac Nationals now set their sights on the Frederick Keys in a best of 5 game playoff series that is scheduled to kick off Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. The first two games of the series will be played in Frederick at Harry Grove Stadium before moving back to Pfitzner Stadium for the next two. If need be the fifth and final game will take place at Harry Grove Stadium.
