Despite his history, Lidge is one of the few players who could still go largely overlooked in a number of situations. There hadn't been much talk about him this winter - aside from a few speculatory thoughts on him having interest in Colorado, since he has a home there - so there was no way of knowing where he may end up. He's a nice pick-up for $1M. While he had an injury-filled year and is aging, at that price, he's less of a risk than Francisco Cordero, cheaper, and may well end up having a better year.
