DoD Content Recap: February 5 – 11

facebooktwitterreddit

Under normal circumstances this post would have appeared on the site last Sunday but thanks to a chest cold that just refuses to quit and the need to pay the bills, time just simply got away from me last weekend and this post never got written. But, things are always better late than never so here we go.

This week’s recap will appear tomorrow, per our usual schedule.

The biggest story of the week revolved around the team’s most glaring weakness moving forward – center field. First, the organization opted to bring Rick Ankiel back for another go-around, signing him to a minor league contract. He’ll report to Spring Training with a pretty good chance at making the team, at least in a platoon capacity. Then, towards the end of the week we dissected some rumors that had been swirling about the team’s possible acquisition of Peter Bourjos from the Angels for John Lannan. The deal is one we don’t really expect to happen – for a number of reasons.
