I've always thought so. But after sleeping on the news I think that what surprised me was more how the decision was made, rather than the actual decision itself to start Detwiler over Lannan.    Don't get me wrong. I think this is a huge step for the organization to basically come out and say "Yup, we know John makes more money. But Ross is the better fit on this time right now so he's the one who made it." It kills the relationship with Lannan and probably limits his trade value (though he may appear to be a cheaper option to some teams, possibly increasing the number of interested parties a month from now?). I get it, he has an option and they just used the system the way it's designed.
