Lerici, Aaron – I’m not sure about either of these guys. Span is a post-concussion risk, though he does get on base enough to be an effectieve table setter. Upton K’s too much on a team that already whiffs way too often. I’d almost prefer they get Ichiro at the deadline while Michael Taylor, Destin Hood, and Eury Perez develop on the farm (Goodwin,too) and fill the position long-term, from within. (Ichiro trade assumes Nats are in play-off hunt on 31 July – not a certainty, but possible).

@lerici I’m not quite as sold on the B.J. Upton idea as you are, but I can’t disagree with you that Span isn’t the best option should this team pursue a center fielder – be it anytime between now and next Spring Training. Thanks for the comment!

BJ Upton NOT Span. He’ll be a free agent next year. That IS where they will go if they decide they need a CF and can’t develop it from within. Span is a fly swatter. He’s a Morgan clone. They need big bats NOT fly swatters.
