As reported by the Washington Times’ Amanda Comak, the Nationals have designated reliever Brad Lidge for assignment. This announcement comes after two consecutive rough outings for Lidge, who allowed two runs in 0.2 IP last night against the Yankees, taking the loss. Lidge also allowed three runs and recorded only one out the previous night, also against New York. For the season, he has a 9.64 ERA in 9.1 IP.

The Nationals signed Lidge this offseason on a one-year deal for $1M after he threw only 19.1 IP with the Phillies in 2011 while battling a shoulder injury.
