Chad Tracy Activated, Corey Brown Sent Down

Most of baseball’s attention is drawn to the 4:00 PM EST trade deadline that’s rapidly approaching, but the Washington Nationals appear to be focused solely on “business as usual” as they prepare for tonight’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. Washington activated utility infielder Chad Tracy from the disabled list and have sent outfielder Corey Brown down to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Tracy was hitting .265/.327/.510 with 3 HR and 12 RBI coming off the bench for the Nationals before landing on the DL in late May. He’s quietly been one of the better pinch hitters across the Major Leagues this season and still leads the NL in RBI despite missing almost two months of playing time.
