Morse Likely To Miss Braves Series With Left Wrist Injury

Amanda Comak of the Washington Post reports that Michael Morse is likely to miss this weekend’s series against the Braves with a sore left wrist.

Comak reports that Morse did not take batting practice today, and has a quote from Davey Johnson that Morse will likely be available on Tuesday; the first game of a home series against the Dodgers. The injury appears to be more serious than previously thought, as Morse was expected to take batting practice and possibly be in tonight’s lineup (via Mark Zuckerman).

Roger Bernadina will replace Morse in tonight’s lineup against Kris Medlan.

Morse hit a mere 12 for 44 in September with three multi-hit games. Morse missed the final game of the Nationals’ previous series with the Mets with the same ailment. Look for the Nats to be very precautionary with Morse down the stretch to get him healthy for the playoffs, as Davey Johnson has expressed confidence in the platoon of Bernadina, Tyler Moore and Steve Lombardozzi.
