Stephen Strasburg threw a career high eight innings in his return to San Diego Friday night.
After a terrific homecoming start for Stephen Strasburg and a win on Thursday night, the Nationals look to secure a series victory with a win tonight. The Nats will send out Gio Gonzalez (3-2, 4.20) who has been strong in each of his last two starts after an inconsistent start to the season. The Padres will counter with rookie right hander Burch Smith (0-0, 54.00). Smith struggled mightily in his first career start last Sunday, giving up six runs in only one inning pitched to the Rays. Gio has had his own struggles in the opening inning of his starts this year, giving up seven runs in eight starts.
Hi everyone!! I'm currently a senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, and I write for and am the editor for the sports section of the Horizon, the school paper, and I hope to continue writing in college. On the baseball side of things, I've been a huge fan of the game most of my life and accept any chance I can get to take in a game. I have supported the Nationals for a while now and enjoyed seeing their rise to power in 2012. Go Nats!
