The Nationals have signed former Angels reliever Mark Lowe to a minor league deal, according to the team’s official Twitter account.
The 30-year-old Lowe had a 9.26 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in 11.2 IP earlier this season with the Los Angeles Angels. In his eight-year career with the Mariners, Rangers, and Angels, Lowe has a 4.17 ERA. He had a 1.93 ERA his rookie year with the Mariners in 2006, but has not had an ERA under 3.26 since. Lowe will pitch at Triple A Syracuse, where he will likely serve as further insurance for the major league team.
