Detwiler Returns In Search Of Series Win

After missing nearly a month with an oblique strain, Ross Detwiler (2-4, 2.76) will return to the Nats’ rotation today for the series finale in Colorado. He had been doing quite well before his injury, but will be tested immediately by the potent Rockies’ bats. Perhaps he can follow in the footsteps of his fellow Ross, Ross Ohlendorf, who limited them to just one run on two hits over six innings. Opposite him will be the struggling Jeff Francis (2-4, 6.30). Francis missed most of May with a groin injury himself, but regardless, he has not had a great season. He has allowed 4+ runs in five of his starts, but only completed five innings in four starts. The Rockies will also enjoy the return of Michael Cuddyer, who missed a week with a rib injury. Here are today’s lineups:

Denard Span CF

Jeff Kobernus LF

Ryan Zimmerman 3B

Jayson Werth RF

Adam LaRoche 1B

Ian Desmond SS

Anthony Rendon 2B

Kurt Suzuki C

Detwiler LHP

 Dexter Fowler CF

Jordan Pacheco 1B

Carlos Gonzalez LF

Troy Tulowitzki SS

Michael Cuddyer
