Placement Notes: Cole, Moore, Harper

Some quick notes on players being placed into and out of different things.

A.J. Cole was selected to replace Taylor Jordan in the Futures Game, the minor-league All-Star game that will take place on Sunday at Citi Field. Jordan will still be with the Nats then, and appearing in the majors has rendered him ineligible anyway. Cole is generally regarded as a top prospect, but his numbers are not amazing at High A Potomac: 5-3, 4.58 ERA, 1.29 WHIP.

Tyler Moore was optioned Triple A Syracuse in order to make room on the 25-man roster for Dan Haren, who was reinstated off the DL. Scott Hairston, the bench bat for whom Moore is being sent down, took Ross Detwiler‘s spot on the 25-man and sat on the bench for his first game as a Nat yesterday.

Bryce Harper was named to the NL Home Run Derby squad by NL captain David Wright. Harper has just 13 home runs on the season, but has missed 31 games and was voted the player fans most wanted to see on the team in the NL.
