Jordan Aims To Stop Nats’ Skid Against Pirates

Losers of nine of eleven, including four in a row, the Nats have been dropping like a stone down the standings. At 48-51, three games below .500, they trail Atlanta by eight games in the division. After scoring five runs in three games against the Dodgers, the Nats made a drastic move in firing hitting coach Rick Eckstein. Perhaps coincidentally, the Nats scored five runs the next game against the Pirates, but still lost. They face a long climb back into contention, and Taylor Jordan hopes to begin the march tonight. Through four major league starts, he is 0-2 with a 3.32 ERA, but the Nats are 2-2 in his starts. If he gets his first win tonight, it would be huge in more ways than one. The Pirates will start former first overall pick Gerrit Cole, who is 4-3 with a 3.98 ERA in his first seven major league starts. Here are tonight’s lineups:
