Zimmermann Seeks Rebound Against Brewers After Tough July

Jordan Zimmermann was being considered a candidate to start the All-Star Game as the game approached, with a 2.28 ERA at the end of June. However, the month of July was unkind to him. He allowed 23 runs in 26.1 innings, jumping his ERA all the way to 3.19. He has also stalled since earning his twelfth win, coincidentally against the Brewers. The Nats hope he can get back-to-back wins against them with the help of the offense. The bats will face a familiar foe, ex-Nats reliever Tom Gorzelanny. He has had a great season, with a 2.78 ERA, but has moved into the rotation recently from a long-relief role. His time in the rotation has been decent and very odd. In his first two starts, he threw six innings and allowed no earned runs, but took losses in both games. He allowed nine total runs over 11 innings in his next two starts, but managed a win in a start in which he gave up four runs. Here are tonight’s lineups:
