Washington Nationals Starter Options

The Washington Nationals have a pretty good front three of the starting rotation. Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmermann have been accountable to put up innings and get guys out. Strasburg has had an injury and Gio an off year but Zim is coming off his best season in the majors. What else do the Nats need? Well, they need a back end starter that can finish out the rotation. Mike Rizzo and the front office have some options, it all depends on how much money they want to spend. Here are some of the starters I believe have a chance of wearing a Nats uni next season.

I’d prefer Matt Garza (OPM), and want no part of the Nolasco/Jimenez/Vogelsong trifecta and while Price and Scherzer sound good. Giolito tops triple digits with his fastball and the offspeed stuff is said to already be big league ready. You’re talking about a guy who could develop three plus plus pitches, so I’d really prefer Garza.

I agree. I feel like he will get the most out of his contract. I don’t expect him to ask for much either. He could solidify the three or four in the rotation. Nats could end up having the best rotation in the N.L. if they sign Garza and stay healthy.
