Jerry Blevins to Washington Nationals
By Ryan Ritchey
I wrote last night that it could be a possibility that the Nationals get Jerry Blevins from the Oakland Athletics. Well, that is now a reality according to Chris Cotillo.
The player in the deal is Billy Burns. Burns was the Nationals player of the year last season, as he stole 74 bases in 81 chances. Those are pretty good odds if you ask me. This is coming from Jeff Passan.
This is a great deal for the Nationals. Blevins should come at a cheap price in arbitration and isn’t a free agent until 2016.
This fills the hole the Nationals were looking to fill this offseason. Yet another great move by Mike Rizzo and his team to bring in a great, consistent lefty reliever that eat up some innings and get out of jams.
The Nationals offseason needs are pretty much complete as they are now only looking for a little bit more bench depth. The 25 man roster needs one or two more players on it to complete it.
