The field at Nationals Park may be covered with snow right now, but it’ll be covered with thousands of screaming fans when Billy Joel comes to town later this summer.

The six time Grammy Award winning artist will perform at Nationals Park July 26 at 8 p.m.. The announcement was made at 10:30 a.m. this morning by general manager Mike Rizzo, as well as D.C.’s deputy mayor Victor Hoskins.

Fans found out about the announcement yesterday, and some couldn’t be happier with today’s news that the Piano Man will be visiting South Capital Street this July. Perhaps the happiest person after today’s announcement is general manager Mike Rizzo, who spoke of Joel at this morning’s announcement.

"“I’m just so excited to have Billy Joel back at Nationals Park. Not only is he a Hall of Fame-caliber entertainer, I just like the fact that he’s a very attractive bald man with a goatee. We gotta stick together,” Rizzo said."

The event will be Joel’s first solo performance at Nationals Park, where he shared the stage with Elton John in 2009. The stadium has become a popular venue for concerts over the past few years, as Paul McCartney performed there last summer, among others. The team is also expected to host the likes of Jason Aldean and One Direction later this year.

Nationals season ticket holders can purchase pre-sale tickets starting Jan. 30, while American Express card members can purchase pre-sale tickets starting  at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 through 10 p.m. Jan. 31. Tickets will go on sale to the general public February 1st, at 10 a.m. at nationals.com/billyjoel.

Billy Joel Fan or not, the concert will certainly be another exciting night in what many expect to be an exciting summer for the Nationals

“The Billy Joel concert is just another example of the crazy excitement that’s happening here at Nationals Park,” Rizzo said. “Not only with the entertainment we bring in here several times during the season, but don’t forget there’s a 2014 Washington Nationals baseball team that plays out there every day. It’s must-see viewing. Make sure the word gets out to get your tickets, it’s going to be the place to be. We are certainly looking forward to seeing the great entertainer, Billy Joel, here at Nationals Park.”
