Despite officially starting the season as the team’s number three starter, Zimmermann was undoubtedly the ace of the Nationals’ staff last season.

The 27-year-old right-hander led the National League with 19 wins last season (along with the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright), and was selected to his first All-Star Game. Zimmermann not only helped the Nationals with his 19 wins, but he was also a workhorse for the team, pitching 213.3 innings.

2013 was a breakout season for the young right-hander, and there is no reason to believe he can’t be even better in 2014. I strongly believe Zimmermann will have a great 2014 season for the Nationals and that he’ll be in the Cy Young Award conversation at the end of the season.
