Did Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper troll the 2014 NFL draft?
That’s a clown question, bro. Of course he did.
After the Houston Texans made the No. 1 overall selection in the draft—they took South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, like most analysts predicted—Harper took to Twitter to make the pun that all too many people had already figured out:
“That’s a Clowney pick bro” #NFLDraft

Very clever, Mr. Harper.
Harper did nothing wrong here, and he certainly got his fair share of retweets and favorites—4,130 and 3,986, respectively, at the time of this writing—but you can rest assured that this guy didn’t contribute to either of those totals.
I will not—no, cannot—endorse such debauchery and poor joke making. Anybody with their finger on the pulse of the Internet knew that a joke like this would be made by someone. They were just hoping that person wasn’t on their timeline, or better yet, not retweeted by someone on their timeline.
But, alas, Nats fans, we were all subject to this trolling of the NFL draft on Thursday night.
