Gio, Nationals Go For Series Win Against Mets

After surviving another stressful ninth inning against the Mets Friday night, the Nationals look to win their second series in a row and tenth consecutive game against the New York Mets Saturday afternoon at Nationals Park.

Gio Gonzalez gets the start for the Nationals as he hopes to bounce back from his recent struggles and return to his dominant early-April form. Gonzalez failed to make it past the fifth inning his last time out against the Athletics, allowing seven runs on nine hits.

The Mets will counter with right-hander Bartolo Colon, who has surrendered seven or more runs in three of his eight starts this season.

Prior to Saturday afternoon’s game, the Nationals sit a half a game behind the Braves in the National League East and are three games over .500 with a record of 22-19. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. EST.
