Nationals expected to call up outfield prospect Taylor

ATLANTA — Outfield prospect Michael Taylor is expected to join the Nationals on Sunday, according to a baseball source. It is not yet known who Taylor will replace on the roster.

The Nationals have been hit with injuries lately. Outfielder Jayson Werth has been dealing with shoulder and ankle issues, while Stephen Souza has shoulder inflammation after banging into the right-field wall on Friday. Read full article here.

Souza feeling better after crashing into wall

ATLANTA — Nationals outfielder Steven Souza Jr. said he is feeling much better after colliding with the right-field wall during Friday’s 7-6 loss to the Braves but is still a little sore.

Manager Matt Williams went so far as to say that Souza was available off the bench for Saturday night’s game against Atlanta. Souza has undergone several concussion tests over the past 24 hours and has passed all of them. Read full article here.

SP Stephen Strasburg Must Fix Early-Game Struggles in Order to Win

Starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals struggles early in games. That has been the story of his season.

His outing Friday night against the Atlanta Braves was nothing out of the ordinary for him in 2014. Strasburg gave up two runs in the first inning and four in the second. Despite his ability to strikeout batters, Strasburg falls behind in the first two innings of his games. Read full article here.
