Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon continued his second-half surge with another dominant week at the plate last week.

When the Washington Nationals’ offense is clicking, it can be as good as any in baseball. The lineup is capable of putting up a bunch of runs against any opponent, and a consistent offense might be the key for the Nationals to finally make a deep run in the playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Nationals, consistency is often hard to find — especially when it comes to offense. And for the Nationals to stay consistent at the plate, they’ll need several players to stay hot — including third baseman Anthony Rendon.

More from District on Deck

Last week, Rendon was hot at the plate, and he continued a second-half resurgence that has quickly made him one of the team’s most important hitters. And for that, he earns our Washington Nationals Player of the Week honors.

Over his last seven games, Rendon has been tearing it up at the plate — batting .440 with a .517 on-base percentage while hitting a homer and driving in 11 runs.

His dominant string at the plate last week is the latest in what has been an impressive second-half performance for Rendon. After struggling for most of the season, Rendon has suddenly turned it on at the plate — batting .327 with six home runs and 23 RBIs over his last 30 games.

With Bryce Harper and Danny Espinosa struggling at the plate, the Nationals need Rendon to stay hot down the stretch if they want to accomplish their goals in September and October. Fortunately for the Nationals, it looks like he’s on his way to do just that.
