On the latest episode of the DoDcast, we look ahead to Washington Nationals spring training and some of the storylines out in West Palm Beach

Spring Training is finally here as pitchers and catchers have finally reported to West Palm Beach for the Washington Nationals. On Monday night, Ron Juckett and I recorded another episode of the DoDcast with the theme being a spring training preview.

Our first topic was the surprise signing the Nats made Monday afternoon when they signed first baseman Adam Lind to a one-year deal. We discussed the signing and how it gives the Nats more depth off the bench and good insurance behind Ryan Zimmerman in case he gets hurt. Plus, with Lind in the fold, does that mean Clint Robinson’s days on the roster are numbered?

Then, I gave my five storylines to watch for in spring training and Ron gave his take on them. Some of my storylines include Trea Turner as the full time shortstop, who takes over the closer role, and the roster battles for the final outfield spot and the long relief role.

More from District on Deck

As we dove deeper into my five storylines, one of the other topics that came up is whether or not any other roster moves will be made between now and Opening Day.

Could Joe Nathan emerge as a bullpen option or could the Nats look to trade for David Robertson? Plus, if Derek Norris struggles early on, does that make a Matt Wieters signing more likely?

We want to remind all of you that if you send us questions, we do answer them on the air, so please send us your questions for future shows on our Twitter or Facebook page. This week’s question was about whether or not the Adam Eaton trade has affected the Nats negotiations with the White Sox for Robertson?

During our final segments of the show, we answered a viewer question about Bryce Harper’s attitude. In addition, we looked at the comments Drew Storen and Danny Espinosa made about former Nats closer Jonathan Papelbon over the past week.

Also, what are the stats that you should be watching for when the Nats begin the exhibition season Saturday, February 25 against the New York Mets at Port St. Lucie?
