A short time ago we set out here at DoD to evaluate each trade that has been completed by the Nationals organization since the team came into existence for the 2005 season. We’ve taken a look at the one deal completed by former GM Jim Bowden and the first deal completed by current GM Mike Rizzo. Let’s continue with the series and take a look at the next deal to appear on Rizzo’s resume.

This weekend the Nationals go to Pittsbugh to play the Pirates for the first time since the two teams made a deal involving Nyjer Morgan, Sean Burnett, Joel Hanrahan, and the enigmatic Lastings Milledge on July 1st.  At the time, the deal was generally thought to have been a slight win for the Pirates.  The Pirates kick started their firesale by getting rid of a 28 year old journeyman and got a former blue chip prospect who could benefit with the new address in return.  Well, nearly a month later, it’s painstakingly obvious that the Nationals won this deal in [...]

With this being the first post in this blog and the season is already halfway over, it’s only fitting that we take the time to sum up what we’ve missed.  I’ve assembled a list of ten things that can explain the disaster that can only be known as the 2009 Nationals season.  So without further sugar coating, here it goes. 10.  Lastings Milledge: All Star?
