Duke was very reliable in his short time on the big-league roster last season, recording a 1-0 record while posting a 1.32 ERA in 13.2 innings across 8 games. He spent most of the season at AAA Syracuse, where he went 15-5 with a 3.51 ERA in 164.1 innings over 26 starts.

Mike Rizzo loves these types of low-risk, high-reward signings, so expect some more veterans to come in on minor-league deals as the offseason progresses. If anyone knows the value of depth in case of injuries, it’s these Washington Nationals.
