The wonders of the internet are endless. Over the past few months, blogger Mark Willis of mwillis.com has been running a series of amazing posts in which he redesigns MLB jerseys as if they were soccer teams. The last division in the series was the NL East, and our jerseys finally came out yesterday.

September 6, 2011; Washington DC, USA; Washington Nationals fans wear the jerseys of pitcher Stephen Strasburg and outfielder Bryce Harper prior to the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Nationals Park.
You should ABSOLUTELY read the post here, if for no other reason than to appreciate all the incredible thought Mr. Willis has put into these. 1,335 words of incredibly creative and at times philosophical thought on an awesome hypothetical Nats jersey simply don’t come along often. Just to give you a preview, his first thought when designing the jersey is “Where do clubs come from? Can they be born fully-formed, or does it take tears and patience and faith rewarded to make a uniform into an emotional talisman?” The jersey itself is simplistic yet filled with details, such as homages to the Washington Senators, the U.S. Capitol rotunda, and even the District of Columbia flag.

However, I don’t want to give it all away. It’s a great read, and if that jersey were real? I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
