Harper to come off the bench in Monday’s game

By Editorial Staff

Harper will enter the game off the bench Monday as the Washington Nationals will be traveling to Port St. Lucie, Florida to take on the New York Mets.

Monday’s game will be the first of Spring Training for the Nationals and is the first chance for fans to see Harper on a Washington Nationals roster.

Harper who was named the number 1 prospect this season by Baseball America looks to impress this spring in hopes to make it hard for the Nats to keep him in the minors

"“I’m trying to stay up here as long as I can. [Outfielder Jayson] Werth and several of the guys came up to me and asked, ‘Are you going to make the team or what?’ I’m trying to make this club. … If it doesn’t happen, it’s going to be a great experience being up here with all the veteran guys.” -Bryce Harper"

You have to love the kids outlook on things but as I see it right now there is no way he makes the opening day roster even if he is ready.

Harper has impressed in both the instructional league as well as the Arizona Fall League and will more than like likely continue to impress during his time with the Nats in Spring Training but he wont be there long. Harper will more than likely only be with the Nationals for the first week or two of Spring Training games and then will head on off to the Nationals minor league camp.

So enjoy him while you can Nationals fans because more than likely his first regular season game this year will come while playing with the Hagerstown Suns.
