Be sure to save the dates when the New York Mets come to the Nation’s Capital for their home-stand against your Washington Nationals from April 26th-28th. The Mets come to town with a 9-13 record that puts them in the basement of the National League East while the Nationals post an even 10-10 record as of Monday , April 25th. They took 2 out of 3 earlier this month during a road trip to New York. Danny Espinosa looks to continue on his hot start at lead off this season against a Mets probable pitching staff that holds a combined 4-4 record this season.
April 26th pins Chris Young (1-0) vs. Jordan Zimmerman (1-3). Young, making his first start after being shelved with tendinitis in his right bicep. Majority of the Nats lineup has yet to face Young a significant amount of times except for Ryan Zimmerman who is currently on the 15 day DL.
April 27th has R.A. Dickey (1-3) vs. Tom Gorzelanny (0-2) in game 2 of the series. Jayson Werth seems to have the most success against the knuckleballer out of the starting lineup posting a .333 average in 9 at-bats with one HR and one RBI. Weather for the 27th is looking like showers and some wind which could give the National hitters some issues with the dancing knuckler.
April 28th brings a duel between Chris Capuano (2-1) vs. Livan Hernandez (2-2) as the series wraps up an division battle against the Nationals and Mets. Capuano has had 5 career starts against the Nation’s Capital hosting a 4.01 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Livan Hernandez has had plenty of chances against New York and brings 10-13 record with 3.92 ERA and 120 K’s in his bouts with the Mets.
