Hagerstown Suns- start a 4 game series tonight at 7:00 pm vs the Greensboro Grasshoppers
The 27-13 Hagerstown Suns hope to extend their 4 game division lead over the 23-17 Grasshoppers.
On the mound for the Suns will be left hander Robbie Ray who is 1-0 with 0.00 era in 2 starts for the Suns this season. Ray who started the season in extended spring training did not make his Suns debut until May 5th allowing just 1 hit over 5 innings of play. Ray offers up a low 90s fastball with a nasty slider and a pretty good change up with nice control having 1 walked just 1 batter over 11 innings.
This has the potential to be a pretty good series vs two teams that have played some good ball this season.
Potomac Nationals-start a 3 game series tonight at 6:05 pm vs the Lynchburg Hillcats
The Potomac Nationals 16-23 hope to pick up their 3rd win in a row as they take on a 14-24 Hillcats team that has won just 4 out of their last 10 games.
Mitchell Clegg will be taking the mound for the Nationals and will be looking to improve on his disappointing 5.46 era. Clegg who was a 21st round pick by the Nationals in the 2009 draft has gotten off to a rough start after going 9-3 with a 3.48 era last season with the Hagerstown Suns.
The P-Nats have gotten off to a disappointing start this season with a record of 16-23 but with guys like Eury Perez and Destin Hood in the lineup they have the talent to turn things around and win some games. This would be a good series for the P-Nats to win if they hope to turn the season around.Harrisburg Senators- start a 3 game series tonight at 7:05 pm vs the Binghamton Mets
The 18-19 Harrisburg Senators hope to get back to .500 tonight vs a 13-24 Binghamton Mets who are 2-8 over their last 10 games.
On the mound for the Senators will be right hander Brad Peacock who is 5-1 with a 2.13 era this season. This is looking like it could potentially be a breakout season for the 23 year old hurler who offers up 3 major league pitches including a fastball that has been clocked at 96 mph.
If you are the Senators you have to like your chances tonight with Peacock on the mound vs a slumping Binghamton Mets team.
Syracuse Chiefs- wrap up a 4 game series with the Norfolk Tides tonight at 7:00 pm
The Chiefs are riding a 4 game winning streak (3 of which were vs the Tides) and are 7 and 3 over their last 10 games.
On the mound for the Chiefs will be right hander Brad Meyers who is 2-0 with a 3.00 era in 2 starts for the Chiefs since being promoted from the Harrisburg Senators. Meyer with a low 90s fastball is not an overpowering pitcher but the Nats 2009 minor league pitcher of the year has been praised by Nats GM Mike Rizzo for his “pitchability” and has command of 4 pitches.
