There are actual live baseball games being played across the country that actually mean something. It’s an exciting time to any season. The Nationals certainty starting things off on the right foot yesterday, with an exciting 2-1 victory in Chicago to beat the Cubs on Opening Day.
There will certainly be more big games over the course of the month, perhaps with some even more heroic performances than the one provided by Ian Desmond in yesterday’s game. He started the season off right, singling on the game’s very first pitch for what would be the first of three hits on the day. The last was perhaps the biggest, as it drove in the game’s winning run in the top of the 9th inning.
Many of those moments over the coming weeks I might miss, as I’ll be a little busy in the coming week with a major event of my own. For the past five years I’ve grown to love the woman who’s about to be my wife and on Sunday, the 15th, we’ll be married and celebrating with friends and family. For an example of how great my bride-to-be is, the first thing we’re doing the following morning is catching a baseball game (Tampa Bay at Boston) at Fenway Park. Plus, she’s always putting up with me having the laptop in front of me and doesn’t shy away from my passion for the game. Then, since I think we’ve earned it, we’ll be taking a nice vacation to start the rest of our lives together.
For the next few weeks the same quality content you’ve come to know and enjoy around these parts will continue. While I’ll be absent, there will still be a highly talented and dedicated team of staff writers here to bring each of our readers complete insight and analysis of everything the Nationals do as the 2012 season begins.
I’ll be back towards the end of the month with some big things planned for the remainder of the season. There will be some fun new features here at DoD. And there’s a contest coming that we’ll announce around May 1st.
