The past week, the red-hot Washington Nationals completed one of their best-ever home stands, winning 8 of 10 games, three of the dramatic walk-off variety, including yesterday’s 3-2 win over the Miami Marlins. So far, the Nationals have won all five of their series en route to a 12-4 record.

As Marty points out today, even the weather has cooperated, with today’s monsoon-like conditions raining out today’s game, letting the Nationals depart early for San Diego, the first stop on their upcoming 6-game road trip against the Padres and Dodgers. The unscheduled day off, combined with tomorrow’s scheduled day off gives star third baseman Ryan Zimmerman three days to rest his tender right shoulder.

Look to your District on Deck staff to keep you up to date with game re-caps and features as the Nationals continue their exciting 2012 season. Our fearless leader Aaron Somers will be back next week to captain our writing crew, now as a newlywed.
