Game Thread: April 3 | Miami Marlins (0-1) @ Washington Nationals (1-0)

Gio Gonzalez starts his first game of the season under the spotlight. After last season’s 21-win campaign and an off-season where he had to fend off steroid accusations, the Washington Nationals left-handed ‘2’ in their 1-2 punch faces a Miami Marlins lineup that he has had success full of players he has had success against in the past.

Going for the Marlins is Kevin Slowey. Only Jayson Werth and Kurt Suzuki (who enters the lineup tonight) have faced him previously but familiarity should not be a problem as Denard Span was a teammate of Slowey’s in Minnesota. Slowey is trying to rebound from a couple of injury plagued seasons and an ugly (0-8, 6.67) 2012.
