At last, our long national nightmare is over.
Reporter Julie Alexandria has been hired to fill the void Kristina Akra left as MASN’s Nationals sideline reporter. Akra left to join MLB Network’s MLB Now, and MASN has been lacking a reporter until Alexandria’s hire.

Alexandria previously worked for Bloomberg Sports and The Big Ten Network, giving her the requisite sports background. Nothing else about her resume jumps off the page, except for one concerning note pointed out on twitter by The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg @dcsportsbog. A 2012 article announcing Alexandria’s hiring at New York-based Bloomberg sports described Alexandria as “an avid Mets fan.” As bad as it may seem, this is hardly something to be upset about. Employment can certainly change one’s fandom, and, as the Washington Post article linked above notes, Akra grew up a Marlins fan. All in all, Alexandria looks like a strong addition to the broadcast, one who can hopefully be on the crew for a while.
