After a dominating performance by Stephen Strasburg and a series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, the Nationals remain home to host the Baltimore Orioles and begin the 2013 Beltway series. The Orioles are 3 1/2 games back in the AL East, while the Nats are 4 1/2 behind the Atlanta Braves. The Nationals will attempt to win the game behind the left arm of Gio Gonzalez. After a slow start to the season, Gonzalez(3-2) has quietly put together a strong of five straight quality starts. The Orioles will counter with right hander Jason Hammel, a former Colorado Rockie who is 6-2 despite an ERA near 5.5. The Nationals will play the game without the services of superstar Bryce Harper, who is still dealing with lingering injuries.
