After yet another offensive explosion and a 7-1 victory over Colorado on Tuesday, the Nationals look to sweep the Rockies and extend their winning streak five games Wednesday night.
Doug Fister gets the start for the Nationals as he looks to build off a strong month of June in which he posted a 2.38 ERA in five starts. The right-hander seemed to struggle at times in his start against the Cubs last Thursday but still earned a quality start after giving up three runs on seven hits.
The Rockies will counter with left-hander Tyler Matzek, who hopes to contain a Nationals lineup that has scored 21 runs over its last three games. Matzek has a 4.24 ERA on the season but gave up just one run on five hits in his last start against the Brewers.
Prior to Wednesday night’s game, the Nationals are a half game behind the Braves in the National League East with a record of 45-38.
