2015 – Dan Uggla’s Home Run Caps Wild Comeback

Even though last season was a disappointment for the Washington Nationals in terms of living up to high expectations, they did go 14-5 against the Braves. One of the highlight wins from last season came on April 28 when the Nats rallied from a 9-1 deficit after two innings to win the game.

A.J. Cole made his Major League debut that night, but it was not a debut to remember for him. He went two innings, gave up nine runs (four earned) on nine hits in the no-decision. Tanner Roark would fill in for Cole and minimize the damage over the next three innings (two earned runs).

Slowly but surely, the Washington Nationals would mount a comeback against Julio Teheran. Jose Lobaton had a rare three-run home run in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 10-6 at the time. In the seventh, the Nats got back within a run after a two-run triple by Dan Uggla and a RBI double by Reed Johnson. Uggla would end up having a bigger hit at the end of the game.

Two innings later, against closer Jason Grilli, Uggla crushed a three-run home run, which put the Washington Nationals ahead 13-11. It was one of only two home runs Uggla hit on the season, but it was a big one. While the Nats had a disappointing season, this was still one of the memorable moments from 2015.
