While the Washington Nationals aren’t playing, Nats fans should still have a rooting interest in October. Here are the teams for Nationals fans to cheer on.

The Washington Nationals did not make the playoffs. Nats fans have beaten this phrase to death over the last few weeks, but it’s been generally accepted ever since the whole David Bote incident.

It’s ok. The Major League Baseball playoffs have arrived! It’s an exciting time for baseball fans across the country as the best teams get to play under the brightest lights and on the biggest stages.

This year, Nats fans have already pulled the remaining hairs out of their scalps and can watch the playoffs stress-free for the first time since 2015. However, it’s always fun to have a stake in the game.

That raises the obvious question in the minds of Nats fans: “How on earth can I cheer for any of these teams? I’m a loyal Nationals fan!”

Yes, of course, you are, and nobody will dispute that. However, without our beloved Nationals, it might be fun to cheer for another team. Maybe it’s the team from your hometown or a team with your favorite non-Nationals player on it who you have admired from afar.

Some teams have former Nationals fan-favorites on them, and others have D.C. rivals in their path to the Commissioner’s Trophy.

In this piece, we are pooling both the American League and National League playoff teams, including Wild Card qualifiers, and giving you a list of reasons to cheer for teams vying for the championship.
