As spring training approaches, it’s time for Washington Nationals fans to start putting on their team’s caps again. I always like seeing the hometown team supported in unique ways like rockin’ a Zim or Doolittle UVA jersey. Using a scientific algorithm based exclusively on my own style and opinions, I have ranked the top 9 hats for the Washington Nationals and all affiliates. Here we go!

This is the alternative on-field FredNat’s cap.  While it appears that the marketing team just stole one of the F’s off of the Foo Fighters logo, it still makes for a nice cap.  I can definitely see fans in Fredericksburg watching the Nationals at Happy Endings or swinging through J.Brians after the game for a beer with this hat on.

I love hats, and I love tacos.  Put them together, you’ve got a conversation piece on your head. While I’m not a huge fan of the main Grizzlies logo, this taco hat is minor league baseball at its best.  Pick up this hat for any Nats/taco lovers in your life, it’s a gift they’ll never forget.

This Harrisburg Senators hat is an ode to the mayflies that have surrounded the stadium and Susquehanna River.  Until the 2010 season the mayflies would rain down on the crowd after being zapped by the stadium lights. I’m a big fan of the red button on the blue cap, a perfect option for a Nats minor league history buff.

The city of Fredericksburg is pumped up for the FredNats to kick off their inaugural Carolina league season in 2020.  This cap reminds me of many of my own nights in Fredericksburg, with George Washington recklessly wheeling an axe without a cherry tree in site.  The FredNats will begin their season on a 14-game road trip before opening their new stadium on April 23rd.

This spring training hat was a hit last year, selling out before the season began.  It is super cool; the US Capitol on the red, white and blue hat. My one sticking point with this hat is the stars.  I wish there was a third star somehow placed in the middle of the ‘W’ to represent the DC flag. Hard for me to complain though, this is definitely one of the cooler Nats caps.

I’m going off the beaten path with this one. Here’s a Hagerstown Suns hat for any day of the week. This trucker hat has that “intentionally dirty” look to it and is easily worn at games or in the community.  When someone does catch the connection to the Nationals, be ready for an in depth discussion about minor league baseball.

This Auburn DoubleDays hat features the double D’s and with an old school hitter ready to take his rips.  I love the mustache on the logo and I imagine this character chomping on a wad of chaw as he waits for the pitcher to deliver.  There are no cameras to steal signs or apple watches in sight. This is the perfect hat for the old school baseball fan, who likes the game played the way it used to be.

I want to drink a beer with whoever came up with this hat.  George Washington sluggin’ back a cold one to celebrate the 2019 World Series title, is a must have. This definitely seems like a conversation starter and a great hat to wear if you plan on pre-gaming at Walters Sports Bar or The Big Stick.

No shocker here, this has to be the top dog when it comes to Nats hats.  This hat has the style and tradition associated with on-field caps. I prefer the blue hat over the red. Not only did the Nats wear these hats throughout the playoffs but I can wear this in a non-baseball context as well. Make sure when purchasing this year that you get the World Series Champions logo. Something tells me we will be seeing a lot of these at Nats Park this season.
