Mike Trout is the best player in baseball, but even he is human when he faces off against the Washington Nationals ace.

With the sports world on hold due to the Coronavirus, people are struggling to get their sports fix. So when the best player in baseball Mike Trout and golfer Brooks Koepka met up on Nike Golf’s Instagram on Sunday, people paid attention. Koepka asked Trout an intriguing question, who is the toughest pitcher he’s ever faced? His answer was not surprising in the slightest, Max Scherzer.

Trout went into detail about the time he faced Scherzer during the 2018 All-Star game at Nat’s park.  After watching Mookie Betts and Jose Altuve strikeout on six pitches, Trout came up to the plate. The superstar ended up walking, but it didn’t come easy. He was down early in the count 1-2 and then laid off a few pitches to work the count full. The two went back and forth with Trout fouling off multiple pitches before earning a walk. Trout told Koepka that it was the best at-bat of his career.

When discussing Scherzer, Trout stated,

"“So I was happy when he left to the National league, so I didn’t get to see him when he was in Detroit.”"

So are we Mike Trout. So are we.

Trout is a three-time MVP and hands down the best player in the league. In his nine-year career, Trout is hitting .305, with 285 homers, 752 RBIs, and an OPS  of 1.000. Since entering the league in 2011, Trout leads all players in fWAR with 73.4. To put it in perspective, Buster Posey is second with 48.9. That is a huge gap. We are used to seeing Trout dominate opposing pitching, however, Scherzer has his number. The three-time MVP is hitting a meager .188 with a homer, and 10 strikeouts in 16 at-bats.

As a baseball fan, it was entertaining to see the best players in the game give each other recognition. Game recognizes game.
