Diamondbacks

Arizona has a log jam at first base and should be looking to flip someone. Washington should set their eyes on Seth Beer, who has nothing left to prove at AAA. Last season he hit .287, with 16 homers, 59 RBIs, and an OPS of .909. A natural first baseman, Beer can also DH and has spent time in the outfield. Only 25, it would cost a few mid-tier prospects to land him.

Dodgers

If the Dodgers decided to pay Corey Seager in free agency, it will make Gavin Lux expendable. The former top prospect has struggled to find playing time, but deserves an opportunity. Last year he hit .242m with seven homers, 46 RBIs, and an OPS of .692 in 102 games. At this point, he just needs extended playing time which Washington can offer. Defensively, Lux would slide into second allowing Luis Garcia to shift back to his natural position at short.

Giants

The Giants returned to relevance by getting everyone to accept their role and follow the next man up moto. Someone who excelled in that role was Darin Ruf who smashes left-handed pitching, slashing .284/.414/.593. Ruf would prove to be a perfect tandem at first with Josh Bell at first who thrives against righties.

Padres

To say the Padres 2021 season was a disappointment is an understatement. San Diego entered the year with World Series aspirations and they didn’t even reach the playoffs. With so much money on the books, the Padres can only continue to go all-in from here. At the same time, they can look to offload some of their smaller contracts in order to free up money.

Enter Ha-Seong Kim. Signed through 2024, Kim is an excellent defender who can play multiple positions. While he didn’t live up to expectations offensively last year, he would be an excellent candidate to DH next year (it is widely assumed the new CBA will include the universal DH).

Rockies

Colorado is stuck in a rebuild, but decided against fully capitalizing on their then-upcoming free agents at the trade deadline. At this point, they should focus on fully restocking their farm system. Washington should set their eyes on Kyle Freeland, once seen as the Rockies future ace. After posting a 2.85 ERA in 2018, he has posted a 4.33 ERA the last two years.

Getting Freeland out of Coors Field might be what he needs to help him return to his earlier form.
