Spring Training will arrive before we know it. On February 21, the Nationals will kick off their Spring Training with a split-club day of baseball. One game will be played against the Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida, and the other will have the Nationals hosting the Astros at home in their split stadium, CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches. That place is going to be jam-packed with daily baseball for about a month, and it will surely make for a good visit. Here is some history to know about CACTI Park before you go.

CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches

This start-of-the-art venue broke ground in 2015 and subsequently opened to the public in 2017. This was a joint effort by the Astros and Nationals ownership to reduce costs and build an elite sports complex.

Before the founding of CACTI Park, the Astros played their Spring Training baseball in Kissimmee, Florida. The Nationals themselves played in Viera, Florida, just outside of Cape Canaveral.

In a joint partnership between the two clubs, the project was completed at an estimated cost of nearly $150 Million. It is not only a beautiful ballpark, but a modern, vast 16-acre sports complex.

When it was founded, the ballpark was actually called the "Ballpark of the Palm Beaches." The new name? This became reality in 2024 when Travis Scott, the famous rapper, gained sponsorship rights. This is because his Spiked Seltzer brand, "CACTI Hard Seltzer," has earned those rights. This aligns with his alternate stage name, "Cactus Jack," as Scott is a native of Texas.

On the grounds, CACTI Park has the stadium itself plus (8) baseball fields and (5) bermudagrass multi-sport fields. This venue hosts a range of sports, making it an excellent fit for West Palm Beach and its grassroots youth sports heart. "The Park" is another state-of-the-art golf facility, also located in West Palm Beach.

Here are some other things that the CACTI Park venue offers to fans:

  • Party Decks that host up to 90 people with food, drink, and great elevated views of the stadium.
  • Six premium suites, available at a working effort with the CACTI Park sales team.
  • Lincoln Park, a 12-acre park within walking distance of the stadium. This offers a family playground, splash pads, four lighted basketball courts, and a 1.8-mile jogging course.

In addition to Spring Training, CACTI Park hosts an array of events. This includes Men's Fall League Baseball, the 14U World Championships, and the "World Comes to the Palm Beaches" international youth baseball event. It is generally open to all forms of baseball with a grassroots focus and supports intramurals for seniors and adults in the area.

Our team at District on Deck will continue to keep you informed on Spring Training and what to do when you make the trip out. There are many bars, restaurants, activities, and more. Stay tuned throughout February to become an expert in your Spring Training trip. Go Nationals!
