The offseason lingers on and there is not much in terms of breaking news hitting the papers. However, there is news to bad had and it finds itself down in Arizona with Seaver King. The Arizona Fall League wrapped itself up and King found himself on the All-Arizona Fall League Team as the leading shortstop. King still has a ways to go until he finds the majors, but his early minor league career is going without issues thus far.

Arizona Fall League

The Arizona Fall League plays in an abbreviated season. King played (18) Games, but his statistics were commendable. He had a stellar batting average of (.359) and an OPS of (1.031). King found 8-of-21 hits to be extra base hits with (2) Home Runs. He added (11) Walks, but did strikeout (15) Times on (79) Plate Appearances, or a 19% K-Rate, including walks.

Some other high-level prospects on this list included the below:

  • 3B, Kevin McGonigle (Tigers #1, MLB #2)
  • OF, Braden Montgomery (White Sox #1, MLB #35)

King stands as the 3rd highest rated prospect on the All-Arizona Fall League Team.

2025 Season In Review: Seaver King

King played (125) MiLB Games this season, split as (80) Games in AA-Harrisburg and (45) Games in A+-Wilmington. He combined for a (.244) Batting Average and (.631) OPS. He had (25) Extra Base Hits, being 20% of all Hits. King also had a K-Rate of 22%.

By all accounts, King struggled a bit in his 2025 season. However, his career is young and very raw. King is not due up until 2027 and even then, that is just a number. His Fall League output proves great optimism in his game.

Scouting Report

King has come into the MLB as a first round pick by the Nationals in 2024. His scouting report labels King as a well-rounded hitter with an ability to spray the ball around the field. He has much potential to gear his game however he, and management wants. His hitting is meant to be his long-term strong suit, but he will be more of a contact hitter and less of one of power.

A "dynamic athlete" is how King is labeled in the field. This suggests that the position of shortstop is not a non-negotiable. He may be able to play second base, or even third base and to the outfield, if necessary.

Long-Term Outlook

We hope that King can thrive in Single-A in 2026 and perhaps, find his way up to Double-A. If King can pull that off, he puts himself in a great spot for a mid-late season promotion to the Major Leagues in 2027. We do take this outlook with a grain of salt. There is much work to do and we cannot stick to any hard-set outlooks. This is what the ideal path may look like.
