The Washington Nationals are frankly beginning to look a bit pathetic as of the last couple weeks. Their offense is in a state of free fall right now, as the team has looked brutal offensively without James Wood and more recently CJ Abrams. With the offense needing a spark to finish out the year, could the Nationals already have an internal answer?

Seaver King pushing for promotion to Nationals with recent heater

As a site, we have already written at length about the possibility and likelihood of Seaver King being promoted to the Nationals, and he truly is doing everything in his power to earn that first call to the show. The 2024 1st round pick of the Nationals was written off by lots of people after a pretty abysmal 2025 season, and King will be owed a lot of apologies by fans and writers alike once he gets promoted.

After Paul Toboni was quick to say that he views King as a guy who can play multiple positions and even made it a point not to say shortstop first, King quickly made his professional debut at a new position on Wednesday night. He played his first game at third base and of course continued his red-hot hitting at the plate.

It should be noted that Toboni mentioned King as a guy who can play second, shortstop, 3rd base, and even outfield as well, with his comments on Junks Radio that were captured by Nats.Talk on X, as they likely wouldn't want to move CJ Abrams off shortstop with a rookie taking his place.

King's month of August has been something to marvel at, as he has slashed .391/.473/.797, good for a .1.270 OPS to go along with an absurd 8 homers and 15 RBIs, and he has now hit 6 homers in his last 6 games. He had an impressive 2-homer game last night while also notching 4 hits and a stolen base, and King is truly doing everything in his power to prove he needs to be in Washington.

His overall AAA slash line is a .318/.389/.567 mark, good for a .956 OPS, all numbers that prove he is ready for a new challenge. Meanwhile, the Nationals continue to trot out infielders with little offensive value and cloudy long-term futures like Jorbit Vivas, Jose Tena, and Nasim Nunez, while King is only continuing to improve with Rochester.

How much more do you think Seaver King has to prove in order to earn a promotion to the big leagues? As always, please let me know on X, @DCBerk.
