Nationals set to unveil brand new City Connect jerseys this weekend

Hopefully they look as clean as the previous ones, if not better.

Some big news came from the Washington Nationals official social media accounts yesterday, as the team has officially announced the unveiling of their brand new City Connect jerseys, which are set to be unveiled this Sunday, March 23rd, at the Nationals Team Store in Center Field Plaza at Nationals Park.

This was not unexpected by any means, as the Nationals announced last season that the 2024 season would be the last time that their previous City Connect jerseys would be in rotation, but we were unsure of when the new ones would be unveiled. With the addition of the fan favorite red jerseys coming back as well, this should be the final jersey that the Nationals get for this season, and if they look anything like I believe they might, they are going to be incredible.

For the 2025 season, the team is going to have their home whites with the script writing across the chest, the new edition of the red jerseys, their new grey jerseys that will be worn on the road, their navy jerseys that have been a staple since their World Series run, and the new City Connect jerseys. Gone are the pullover jerseys from last season, which were a fun experiment, and honestly were more hated than they deserved, in my opinion.

The team even took things one step further in terms of creating speculation, as they teased a color scheme for what the new jerseys could look like. I am anticipating that they could have a sort of baby blue base, and are going to have some cherry blossom accents. If you look at the team's updated profile picture on the tweet below, they are also teasing the interlocking DC logo, which has also begun to make a comeback in the last couple of seasons with their batting practice hats.

The other big piece of news is that the team store in center field at Nationals Park is set to get a major upgrade, according to the Sports Business Journal. The organization is partnering with Fanatics to deliver fans a store that is going to be around 10,000 square feet, which is 30% larger than the previous one that fans have been used to over the last few years.

With the new store, the main highlights include a high-speed jersey customization station, cutting down the time to make a custom jersey from 8 minutes down to 2 minutes, self-checkout stations, live game broadcasts with large LED screens lining the store, and a new Topps shop for custom cards. All of these things are set to improve the fan experience in a major way, and I am excited to see what comes from the unveiling of the new jerseys and the new store very soon.

Between all of these improvements and a new stadium name and jersey sponsorships coming soon, the team is adapting to newer technologies, and soon Nationals Park might look a whole lot different.

Are you excited for the new City Connect jerseys? As always, please let me know on X, @DCBerk.
