The Washington Nationals wrapped up a shocking series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon with a tough loss. While the Nationals are a team that has been mired in their rebuild for a few years now, the Dodgers are the complete opposite in terms of their recent success.

Along with winning last year's World Series and continuing to outspend every team in the league to constantly improve their club, they also happen to have one of the most popular athletes in the world on their team in Shohei Ohtani. In case you don't frequent social media very often, MLB's official social media accounts have long been ridiculed for their ridiculous and over the top coverage of Ohtani, while not providing the same treatment for other players.

Things seemingly finally caught up to MLB's social media account on Monday, as their account posted a clip on X of Shohei Ohtani's 2-run homer off of MacKenzie Gore, and captioned it, "SHOHEI OHTANI, GAME-TYING HOMER!," which was completely unnecessary given that it was literally only the 3rd inning of Monday's game. The Nationals' official X account admin finally had enough of the club not getting a ton of media attention, and replied "post dylan crews single," a play that gave the Nationals a lead to begin the game on Monday, and was questionably scored as a fielder's choice.

It was a hilarious moment for the Nationals' social media account, who received a lot of praise while the Nationals were in the process of beating the Dodgers during Monday's 6-4 victory.

It escalated even further following James Wood's 2-run homer to left-center field in the bottom of the 7th inning, which ultimately stretched the Nationals' lead to 5-2. MLB posted the clip, but captioned it, "James Wood has some ridiculous opposite-field power," which was seemingly lacking the same energey that Ohtani's post had earlier in the game.

The Nationals replied to the post and said, "where did the caps lock go mlb," which got even more likes than the post of Wood's homer itself, which shows just how many fans are frustrated with the league's coverage and excitement for Ohtani that it seemingly lacks for other players. This was a hilarious moment, and the Nationals' social media admin received a ton of praise and attention for calling out MLB's X account.

While it might not seem like a big deal, it is definitely frustrating for club's other than the Dodgers to seemingly generate the same amount of hype and attention on social media from the league's official accounts, and the Nationals admin finally had enough of it all. To the credit of MLB, they leaned into the chirp, as their posts for Nationals clips throughout the rest of the series had better energy, including posting the clip of Dylan Crews' RBI single.

They made this post above on Monday, which gave the Nationals credit for closing out the victory, and they even posted it with the caps lock on. It was a funny social media interaction that helped lend credibility to the league that they can at least take a joke about their coverage of Ohtani, and hopefully for the sake of young players like James Wood and CJ Abrams, the posts will continue to look like this.
