The Best Uniforms in Nationals History

The Nation's team for our national pastime. The red, white, and blue combo puts the Nationals' jerseys as some of the best in the league, but what are the best uniforms in team history?

I would not classify myself as the best dresser. Do not get me wrong, I can rock the slicked-back hair, and look nice going to work, sometimes when I go out with my friends, but other than that, I am a graphic T-shirt, mismatched shorts, and long socks kind of guy. I am not saying I take much pride in that, but if you do not stand for something, you stand for nothing.

As a "casual" dresser myself, never rocking, or even really knowing, name-brand style clothes, it can be hard to appreciate a nice fit sometimes. But we can all universally agree, that the Washington Nationals uniforms are wonderful.

Not all of the combinations have been the prettiest, but there is something about the red, white, and blue, uniforms that rank them amongst the elite.

Since 2005, the Nationals have had many different combinations, entering the league with a red and gold color scheme, before switching to a look close to what we see today, with the curly W and prominent red.

With all the different options that are constantly changing, including a revamp in 2024, it's time for us to look at the best of the best.

Here are the five best Nationals jerseys of all time, excluding the throwback Montreal Expos and Homestead Grays:

5) White Nationals Script: 2020-Current

The sleek white, with the Nationals script, creates a good home look. It is not the flashiest, but it will always get the job done.

4) DC Patriotic Alternate: 2009-2010

Similar to the Patriot alternate curly W uniforms, the DC Patriotic alternate was one of the best Nationals uniforms of all time. The DC script puts it over the top, with the flag being integrated seemingly on the navy blue. These jerseys get the slight edge over the Patriotic alternate Curly W, which replaced it after the 2010 season before being retired in 2020.

3) Red Curly W: 2011-Current

The most iconic jersey in Nationals history. A lot of winning has been done in these uniforms, with the simple curly W on the iconic red. These uniforms will never get old.

2) Cherry Blossom City Connect: 2022-2024

The best city connects uniforms in the game and it is not even close. Paying homage to the DC Cherry Blossoms, the "WSH" script took a little to get used to, but the uniforms have turned out to stand the test of time. It is truly a shame this is the last year we will see them.

As hard as it is to rank a jersey higher than the cherry blossom uniform, the navy uniforms take the cake. I am slightly biased due to the sentimental value of the magical World Series run with these jerseys being one of our many good luck charms, but it helps that the jersey is good looking too.

Some earlier jerseys were hard to leave out, but the shift to the "majestic" style uniforms from 2011 to now has been a major improvement. I could rock any Nats uniform at Nationals Park and be happy with it.
