The event of spring training is officially set. MLB is ready for the inaugural Spring Breakout series, which will begin taking place on March 14. Your Washington Nationals will do battle with the division-rival New York Mets on March 15.

The Nationals' roster is pretty stacked, featuring one of the league's fastest rising prospects in Dylan Crews, who was the team's first-round draft pick in 2023 out of LSU.

What is MLB's Spring Breakout Showcase?

The four-day event will take place from March 14-17 and will include 16 exhibition games. Think of it as an expanded Arizona Fall League. Each roster is comprised of the organization's best prospects from all levels of the minor leagues, giving fans a chance to catch some spotlight performances from those who have been reassigned to minor-league camp.

The Nationals are one of seven teams that will sent at least nine of their top-10 prospects to participate in the contest. On Friday March 15 at 3:10 p.m. ET, the Nats and Mets will take the field and you can watch it live right here on District on Deck (in addition to MLBD, SNY, Nats.com audio and ESPN+).

Despite a downturn in recent years after winning the 2019 World Series, the Nationals are on their way to returning to prominence after replenishing their farm system with the Juan Soto trade and some shrewd draft picks.
