Earlier today, it has been reported that the Washington Nationals and prized offseason acquisition, Nathaniel Lowe, have finally come to a resolution after an arbitration hearing. While the sides filed only a mere $800,000 apart, it appears as if Lowe, who was not among a group of position players that reported early, will be able to report down to West Palm Beach this week along with the rest of the position players.

As a result of the hearing, the Nationals actually won their case, and Lowe will play out the 2025 season with a $10.3 million salary, despite filing at $11.1 million. While it might be a bit of an awkward beginning to his tenure in the Nation's Capital, given that they had to go to a hearing and he has not even played a game yet for the Nationals, it is good that both side will be able to put this behind them and focus on playing baseball this year.

Yes, it is standard practice for players and teams to go to hearings, which is the whole purpose of arbitration, but it is definitely still a little bit of an unconventional start for Lowe. Nonetheless, Lowe's impact on this club has the potential to be massive, as he brings in an impressive track record of success from his time with the Texas Rangers, and if he is able to replicate a lot of his previous seasons, he will be one of the best players on this team.

His $10.3 million salary will make him the highest-paid player on the club, but with a Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, and World Series ring already on his resume, he should provide a steady presence at the dish and in the field, and hopefully can provide some veteran leadership and a winning mentality to this club as well.

As for the guy the Nationals traded to acquire Lowe in lefty reliever Robert Garcia, he has had a bit of a rockier start to his tenure with the Texas Rangers, as he has already experienced a bit of a setback in the beginning of his time in Spring Training due to nerve irritation in his left forearm. While I am pretty positive that it will not be a major issue, I still think the Nationals made out like bandits to acquire a guy like Lowe, who will be one of the best hitters and overall players on the team, for a guy in Garcia who would have been just another reliever in their bullpen.

How excited are you to see Nathaniel Lowe this season? As always, please let me know on X, @DCBerk.
